2 Chainz Brings Out Kendrick Lamar, Chance The Rapper, Big Sean, Jhene Aiko, Ty Dolla $ign & O.T. Genasis During BET Weekend

June 26, 2017

Happy BET Awards day. The work don’t stop. Ever. Home stretch. Today started off with a phone interview with Dave East. I swear, I would have never looked at him any type of way if it wasn’t for V lmao. She thinks he’s bae and ever since, I have too. I really loved speaking with him man haha. His NY accent. Lord.

Mood af going into this BET Awards chaos. Not complaining. I swear. Just keep it mad real. Red carpet are never the business. All media outlets are there to try to get the dopest content, which means competition and thirst lmao. Luckily, they put HipHopDX at the way end where it wasn’t so crowded. But I didn’t like that we were towards the end. That made me feel some typa way.

This happened before I even got inside. Ugh. I love Everyday Struggle. I saw Joe Budden come in, and then the girl, and then DJ Akademiks. I had to stop him lmao. I remember he stole my Ugly God interview and didn’t credit DX. I was pissed and DM’ed him multiple times. He actually apologized and said it was his interns. Epic moment lmao. He was actually super fucking cool, for the 10 seconds I got with him.

I waited for Jen to tag team, because we were both solo. Forever not having a shooter. She was covering for HNHH. The carpet was definitely not red. And it was so long. The longest red carpet I’ve ever seen, I swear. We walk however many feet towards the end, past all the broadcasting stations. The actual awards show took place at Microsoft Theater, and I have no idea where we were in relation to that lmao.

Check in by 1:30pm. They fucked up my badge. Had to go back and forth 3x. Was there until 5:15pm. All I wanted was some water lmao. They legit wouldn’t give me any. They said it was for VIP only. Mannnn. I guess I should be grateful because we were under a tent with AC. Last year, they were straight up outside in the blazing hot sun. Some girl even fainted. I think that’s why this year they took precautions lmao. Not a good look for BET.

Not going to bother sharing all the content but Dreezy was one of my favorites. Out here looking like a snack lmao (sorry I’ve been saying that a lot and I think it’s hilarious). I only had enough time to get social drops for DX IG story. Y’ll should follow if you don’t. Fuck with me lmao.

I had access to the media room for the awards show which started at 5pm, but fuck that. Lmao. I was going home to eat and finish some work. Actually decided to recruit my brothers to go get a foot massage at Joy Foot Spa, my happy place. After a heavenly hour of bliss, I get a text from my boss asking if Joe Budden got beat up by Migos lmao. I was like WHAT.

It was a rumor. Ugh. So annoyed lmao. Case in point on how far from the truth the media can be.

So, this 2 Chainz show… I was looking forward to ALL week. But then I found out he’s on at 11pm and I was so fucking close to backing out. My girl Alex literally called me to put me in my place. She was like, “you’re going.” I was like fuck. Okay. It was 2 Chainz and friends, which means, lots of surprise guests. #FOMO.

The NOVO was dumb crowded. I swear, security gets tighter and tighter every time I come. I can’t even go to my secret spot no more. That being said, I had to move a couple times to get the best view. His trap house set up on stage was so epic. Legit, like his album cover. Opening to “Riverdale Rd” was pure flames. So fucking lit.

He played “Big Amount” second, one of my favorite songs of 2016. I was really thinking Drizzy would show up. He played hit after hit after hit, and it just reminded me how many collabs he has with the greats. Weezy and Big Sean). “Rich As Fuck,” “No Lie,” “All Me,” “Cut Her Off,” “I’m Different, “Fuckin’ Problem,” “Bandz A Make Her Dance.” Every song was damn near a party.

This had me crying. He said this verbatim. Homeboy sure as hell puts on for his hometown of Atlanta. And this lead right into “I Luv Dem Strippers.” Ratchet. ATL, I need to visit you lmao.

First guest of the evening: O.T. Genasis. “Thick” is a banger. O.T. is always a good time when he performs.

Real talk though, Tity Boi is the definition of trap. Name one song he put out that doesn’t slap. This was beyond epic. He brought out the trap choir for “Watch Out.” Legendary.

Second guest of the night: Swae Lee. Holy shit. “Poor Fool” is SUCH A BANGER. Pretty Girls Like Trap Music slays. Every fucking track. After they performed that one, he let Swae do his thing on “Black Beatles.” This made me so happy. Everyone was genuinely enjoying the show.

After performing “Crack” and “Birthday Song,” he brought GOOD Music to the building. Big Sean killed the stage with “Bounce Back.” Speaking of, Sean’s verse on DJ Khaled’s GRATEFUL album fucking slays. Had to listen to it on repeat.

Homeboy was not kidding with the “and friends” part of his show. Blessed to see K Dot almost exactly 24 hours apart. “Humble” had the crowd upside down.

He intro-ed “It’s A Vibe” in the most fitting way. He went off on how he got backlash for having a pink album cover and what not, proceeding to state he does not give a fuck what other people think. Hello, Ty Dolla $ign and Jhene Aiko. Towards the end, 2 Chainz commented at Jhene, “Where Big Sean at?” It was hilarious. He’s funny as hell.

Chance!! Game over. “No Problem” was beautiful. Afterward, 2 Chainz saluted Chance on winning the Humanitarian Award tonight at BET Awards, while Chance thanked 2 Chainz for helping him win his first Grammy. So much fucking love.

He closed out with “4AM” and “Good Drank” with the disclaimer that they couldn’t make it. Not sure if he was referring to Gucci, Travis, or Quavo.
