Lady Bird Was So Fucking Good.

February 6, 2018

Monday, February 5th

Happy Monday. Today was a Monday, for sure. I actually went to bed early for once (early meaning 1am) because I was so lit from the Super Bowl lmao. Legit, useless.

Shout out to Rich The Kid in the building. My homies ride with him tough, so I’m v familiar with his music. But beyond his litness, I just think he’s the most interesting motherfucker. Him and Famous Dex… brazy. Genuinely excited for “Plug Walk” to drop though. That shit is fire.

Tonight, I told myself I deserved this. I always find it so hard to justify fun, for some reason. It’s definitely my downfall. But I hadn’t seen my brother and his best friend in SO fucking long, and we live 5 minutes away from each other. We were trolling movie times all day to find one that worked for all of us. My bro’s best friend (whom I call my second brother) works all the way in the OC, so he was coming back earlier for us. Loyal af.

We all were super down to see Lady Bird, which has actually been out for a minute. I think it’s an indie film, but not positive. All I know is it got 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is unheard of. I read the plot, and I was in. It was also only an hour and 33 minutes. Triple win. After much back and forth, we finally decided on Edwards Alhambra Renaissance 14, which might be my new favorite theater! It’s located in Alhambra only 16 minutes from downtown. It takes my Regal card # too. AND it’s cheaper. AND it’s only $6.45 on Sunday’s and Tuesday’s. And candy was discounted on Monday’s. And there’s a parking lot. Okay, I’m done lmao.

Wiki plot: “An outspoken teen must navigate a loving but turbulent relationship with her strong-willed mother over the course of an eventful and poignant senior year of high school.

We hit the 7:50pm showing, which meant only a couple heads in the theater with us. This film was entertaining from beginning to end. Mostly because it’s so fucking relatable. I was literally the devil child in high school, and this was exactly who Lady Bird was to her parents. It definitely struck a chord with me and made me immediately think of my mom. I was such a dick :(. My brother knows it too. Anyways.

Shout out to Saoirse Ronan who killed her role. I think this won Best Picture (or something like that). It took place in Sacramento, which is close enough to home. There was comedy, drama, and just so many real-life moments to relate to. I honestly love going to the movies because it’s an escape from reality lmao. I know that sounds emo but, I needed tonight so bad. Plus family is always number one. I don’t know where I would be without my bros.
