What’s the next best thing after the Beyhive? Bumble Hive LA. For those lucky enough to enjoy the serenity of Los Angeles as everyone headed to the desert for the Coachella, I spent my beautiful Saturday at a gorgeous space on Melrose in West Hollywood learning from entrepreneurs like Tamara Mellon. As I pulled up to the gold yellow high-rise, I fell in love with the building and its honeycomb-printed exterior.

I quickly found out Bumble is far more than just a dating app. It’s a platform to network, work, meet your matches, or simply hang. Upon walking inside their pop-up space on Melrose, I was immediately overwhelmed with the beautiful, chic layout and motivational messages printed on various walls. Where do I begin? In addition to the endless photo opps, there was wifi, Boxed Water and healthy snacks at your convenience. Even the outlets were Bumble Hive shape!

The reason I was here today was to speak with Tamara Mellon – the co-founder of Jimmy Choo and self-titled shoe brand Tamara Mellon. She was born in London, but now calls LA her new home. The former founder and Chief Creative Officer of Jimmy Choo started the company when she was only 27. So it’s clear to see why she was a perfect candidate for the Let Your Passion Run Your Life (And Career!) panel.

Tamara stated, “So often when you take a job for the money, you never really feel happy. And when you do something you’re passionate about, you’re more likely to be successful at it and the money will follow. Because you don’t feel like you’re really working.”

Joined by chef Leslie Durso and Onyx founder Delali, all three women have established careers in the things that they love — their true passions. The conversation was met with eager females of all races and all ages. As each panelist spoke, they revealed life lessons that had helped them get to where they are today.

It was inspiring to be in the room with so many trailblazing female entrepreneurs. I’m thankful Bumble hosted a pop-up with memorable speaker series like the one I attended. Bumble Hive LA is now closed, but if you’re in Toronto, you can check out their latest pop-up in May. If you want to learn the latest about relationships, love and network, Bumble also has a site separate from your app that we recommend you check out: http://thebeehive.bumble.com/.
