You guys, life is hard. I cried when I read that Anthony Bourdain committed suicide. It just baffles me how these people of stature are all falling victim, and frankly, it’s triggering as hell. I had a pretty rough day and it’s so hard to get out of my own head. I’m just thankful I had my girl with me to see a movie after work.
Oceans 8 came out this weekend, and the only reason I was so inclined to see it was because Rihanna‘s in it. We head over right after work to AMC Burbank 16, which of course, is only at 7pm at the Dolby Theatre. This is the most luxurious theater with reclining seats and… that’s pretty much it lmao. $23 well-spent. I enjoyed every second of this.
IMDB plot: Debbie Ocean gathers an all-female crew to attempt an impossible heist at New York City’s yearly Met Gala.
First of all, female power. Second of all, this was right after the actually met Gala took place, so excellent timing. I can’t say I’ve seen the other Ocean’s movies or remember any of them, but the gist is always the same: a full-blown robbery planned out to every last detail. This time, they were after a 30.5 million dollar necklace by Cartier, which I really hope doesn’t exist IRL. That’s brazy. The all-star cast includes Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter. Everyone is bae on the bill, with Sandra Bullock being the HBIC.
I loved it. It’s about an hour 50 minutes which isn’t bad at all. There’s comedy, action, and the literal definition of a chick flick. It was also the exact thing I needed to get my mind off life. I recommend this for sure. It was badass.
