Holy fuck. It’s January 1st & nothing has changed. No New Years resolution, just being more conscious of who I let into my life. I spent New Years Eve at Universal Studios & saw fireworks, which was beautiful. It’s the little things.
Today was rough for a number of reasons, & I just had to get out of the house. Drove to Whittier, which was the perfect distance to clear your head. Shout out to Duncan, we caught Bumblebee were 6 fucking dollars. $6! Well, shout out to Starlight Whittier Village Cinemas. The crazy part is I’ve been here before, to see Life on our way back from OC. It’s so homey. Popcorn was $8.75, but this theater has a variety of popcorn seasonings, including caramel corn. Dank.

Was actually invited to a screening of this movie before it came out but sadly couldn’t make it. Def thought it would be a lot more “bumblebee” themed, but it wasn’t at all lmao. It’s just the name of the robot. This is like the 5th Transformers movie apparently, which is the only criticism I heard. It got hella good ratings (93%), so I was d.
IMDB plot: On the run in the year of 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.
Hailee Steinfeld killed this role, obviously. She fire. Nothing like seeing an 18-year-old thrive to make you feel old af. Shout out to the film being shot in the Bay too (near SF). My fav part about these movies are always the non-action parts. The actual life parts I guess you could say. This had a ton, from family to relationships to… cars. The yellow Beetle reminded me of my girl’s Beetle from high school, we used to MOB. Simpler times.
The movie is just a few minutes under 2 hours. It helped me get my mind off life for a bit, so I’m grateful. Unless you’re really bored, I wouldn’t go out of my way. This could be watched on an airplane fasho.
