Heyyyyy. 2 days until my birthday & I’m FREAKING tf out. So old 🙁 so sad lmao. Anyways. Saw a phenomenal movie today called If Beale Street Could Talk, after a super productive day at work. Even made it to EvolvCycle in Studio City in between. Shout out to my bro for hanging out w/ me after a long weekend partying in Vegas. He damn near fell asleep but we’ll let him pass.
IMDB plot: A woman in Harlem embraces her pregnancy while she and her family struggle to prove her fiancé innocent of a crime.
First off, this was the only movie playing in theatres I haven’t seen (I need a life), but it had 94% which is extremely high for any film. Didn’t even know it was Regina King playing the mom until after the movie smh. She’s GOAT. We hit the 9:15pm showing at AMC Burbank 16, home to the dank cheese popcorn. That shit is crack, honestly. Always feel like shit after but during, it’s so worth it.
Our movie theater had a decent turnout, which is dope for a Monday night. I read the plot & saw Harlem & was sold lmao. Crazy part is my bro & I were just there, & he hated it. I just love it because of all the dope hip-hop that stems from New York. Interestingly enough, there as no real music in this film. There was however, a lot of racism, discrimination, police brutality, etc.
It’s fucking crazy to think about how an innocent man can be locked up for life for something he didn’t do. That just boggles my mind. On the flip side, you have be rich af & hire lawyers to fight your case, even if you are guilty. It’s a fucked up world we live in. The film runs exactly 2 hours long & takes you on an emotional roller coaster the entire time. From motherhood to family to love to morals, this movie is definitely heavy, but a good heavy.
Go watch this.
