Successfully getting my movie fix in this weekend. Also today’s Sunday, & I’ve been looking forward to hanging w/ my bros for over a week. Been having a rather rough… life. But holding on to these moments I can spend with family and friends. Tonight, we hit the Westside & got a massage at Joy Foot Spa. Our old stomping grounds. Head right to Landmark on Pico afterward for 7:30pm showing of The Favourite.
The movie stars Emma Stone and Olivia Colman, who actually won a Golden Globe for best actress. As she fucking should! This shit was crazy. We weren’t expecting it at all, but the whole 2 hours had us shook. In a good way. The entire 2 hours was so interesting, almost like a satire but more of a drama.
IMDB plot: In early 18th century England, a frail Queen Anne occupies the throne and her close friend, Lady Sarah, governs the country in her stead. When a new servant, Abigail, arrives, her charm endears her to Sarah.
There were a good amount of people in the theater, all reacting strongly at the screen. This honestly is my favorite theater in Los Angeles. Best popcorn seasoning, & overall just feels good being there. Didn’t know this film existed but I’ve seen everything else lmao (my poor bros). Happy we went though. Definitely entertaining. They kept talking about a Netflix show called The Crown, which I guess is about a queen also. Shout out to medieval times, but I’m grateful to be born in the 90’s.
I’d wait to Netflix on this one lmao. Interesting af though.
