24Hrs #Nightshift EP listening f. Ty Dolla $ign, Wiz Khalifa & Madeintyo; G Perico’s “All Blue” Release Party At The Roxy

Today was one of those days where everyone in LA decides to throw an event. Most would probably pick and choose, but you also have to support the homies. After finally getting home from work in rush hour traffic, I fed myself, showered, and laid the fuck down. I almost didn’t get up. I might have slept for 45 minutes and snoozed 4x.

First stop was in light of the Master & Dynamic and Leica Camera collaboration. “A celebration of the reimagined headphones, earphones and stand M&D and Leica have created together. Music by Zen Freeman and artwork by noted Leica photographers Brian Willette, Tania Sarin and Riley Harper.” I pull up to Leica Los Angeles in Weho around 7:30pm and was literally taken aback. A vast 2-story glass building right there in the middle of Beverly Blvd. It looked like a lituation from the outside, which made it enticing to enter.

I’m using a pic from their IG because all mine sucked. The headphones were tucked away in a glass display which meant a huge glare from any and every angle I tried to snap it. These were headphones with a lens. That was a concept I could not grasp. Shout out to Andrew for the invite. It’s always nice to meet a fellow DX freelancer. He was literally in LA (from New York) for 18 hours. I was jealous lmao.

I believe retail goes for $550, which I think is reasonable for headphones of this quality. I take a peek upstairs to find a swarm of heavy-hitters hitting the open bar and open food. This was the most bougie free food I’ve seen at a function in a minute lmao. Like, olives and cheese you’ve never heard of. I did a quick walk-through with all the framed photos hanging on the walls. You could just tell were professionally shot. Photography is an art.

This next event actually turned out to be the spot to be. 24Hrs is the homie. I am a huge fan of his music and fully support him as an artist, even when he was Royce Rizzy. Was super excited when I was able to chop it up with him before he opened for The Dream at El Rey. Tonight was an exclusive listening party for his Nightshift EP, that should be dropping in the next few weeks. I’m actually not sure if it was open to the public, because it seemed like they were checking the list pretty hard. But he did post the flier to his IG. Who knows lmao.

Shout out to my boo Nelson for putting this on in just 2 days (also Chris and James). I literally love them for how hard they work (behind-the-scenes) in the music industry. It really is a hustle and grindmode mindset. But hard work pays off. Shit, I was an intern 4 years ago. I told Iamsu when I interviewed him last week that he was one of my first interviews at Rock The Bells. He said he was too faded to remember shit lmao.

The evening started with some… coldness lmao. It was seriously a chilly night out in LA. And I was wearing summer attire. There were people around me in jackets complaining, I was like stfu lmao. Jk, I love them. All my girls were out tonight. It was so good to see everyone.

Also, shout out to my boo Gabe from Power 106 deejaying. He said 24 made him play only his music lmao. I was dying. I also was handed 2 blunts while waiting an hour and a half for them to start, so I was lit. Everything was funny to me.

PS, shout out to Wav. The event took place in what looked like a warehouse, which turned out to be the headquarters for this app. Tbh, I’m still not sure what this app does lmao. Something about watching the music. But I think DX partnered with them as well. So that’s dope. This also took place in West LA, my old stomping grounds. Nostalgic.

Said hi to Ty Dolla $ign, Madeintyo, and his girl Distortedd. And then later I see Wiz lighting up a j, per usual. I love that man so much lmao. Goal in life is to light one up with Wiz. No shame.

Twenty actually broke the news to me about this earlier, but tonight he announced it to everyone. This project is called 24$ and it’s about to be so fire. “What You Like” is a banger. I really love how unique his craft is. He’s using autotune in a way that’s never been done before.

I literally stayed WAY longer than I had hoped for. It was like 10:20pm at this point, and I had to push to The Roxy to catch G Perico. From West LA, it’s a solid 20-minute drive. I knew this shit was going to be lit, and the minute I stepped inside the venue, lit was an understatement. I could feel the sweat/body heat because it was so packed. I love seeing that. Love when the people come out to support their favorite artists.

G is literally the homie. Shout out to his manager Pun. All the fam was out tonight. I was super sad to miss T.F‘s set, but excited he came back out later. This was the All Blue release party. I remember this project popping out of thin air. It was a great surprise.

What I love most is that G can really rap. “Shit Don’t Stop” is such a banger. He came up from being locked up and literally dedicated his life to music. It’s a testimony to anybody who’s on the streets and wants to make a change for the better.

When I say LA was in building, LA was in the mf building. Jay 305 rocked the stage with T.F and G. “Thuggin” is forever the anthem.

I did not expect to see Yung Pinch. He was literally at the 24hrs listening with me earlier lmao. I love it! Making moves always. “Rock With Us” is a straight banger. This kid from the OC has the juice. Excited to see him grow.

The guests didn’t end there. Casey Veggies rocked the stage and performed “Backflip.” Hands down, one of my favorite records. I know I have a lot. But this song had me so stuck when it first came out.

Hearing G perform “All Blue” had me so satisfied. Forever a fan. <3
