Kehlani’s Sold Out #SweetSexySavage Tour in LA f. Ella Mai

June 19, 2017

If you guys know me, you know how much I fuck with this Bay Area angel from heaven. Well, not really angel. Jhene Aiko’s an angel. Kehlani (I call her Baelani) is just a bad ass bitch, who doesn’t give a fuck. Everything from her image to her personality, she’s just someone I really have been a fan of since day one. Plus she’s from Oakland. YAY AREA- what’s good.

This LA show at The NOVO sold out within minutes. Most people were too late. My homegirl literally mobbed to the Bay last night to catch her up there (Noor, you a real one). This was the #SSSTour, in light of her last project SweetSexySavage. I fucking loved this project. So much feels. Shout out to my babygirl Nechelle for being my date. She seriously gets me on the R&B vibes.

You guys. This clip took me 2 hours to post. Lmao. So fucking pathetic. I literally watched the bar not move for 2 whole hours. I should have just accepted the fact that there was no service, but I really wanted to get the content up. First up: Ella Mai. If you guys don’t know who she is, please listen to these records. She is so slept on. She opened up her set with “Boo’d Up.”

Huge thanks to Dominique for allowing me to cover. I totally forgot she was on the lineup. I was NOT missing her set, which meant arriving 2 hours earlier than I normally would. It was so worth it. Ella Mai is DJ Mustard‘s artist. He took her under his wing and molded her. She is so talented. And I’m obsessed with her British accent. Please keep talking lmao.

“Anymore” is another gem off her Ready EP. The more I see her, the more I love her. It doesn’t look like she puts on any makeup. Just effortlessly gorgeous and real.

Always the move to have Ty Dolla $ign come out during your set. The crowd was so hyped. They performed “She Don’t” together and it was the cutest thing. Of course, he turns the building up with “Blasé.”

My favorite song by Ella Mai: “10,000.” Knew she was going to close out with this. Such a vibe.

After Ella Mai gets off, Kehlani has her DJ, Noodz, get the crowd turnt. Bay bitches know how to get down. And that’s a fact. Noodlez is Asian and I low key want to kick it with her one time for the one time lmao. But anyways. It took me so long to figure out Kehlani deleted her Twitter lmao. I get sad because I always want to tag the artist. I was so surprised when Kehlani took the stage at 9:30pm, exactly when she was supposed to. And man, did she look fire. Everything was perfect: hair, makeup, outfit… everything. “Keep On” started off things right.

I love her raspy voice the most. I can’t get over how much she talked tonight lmao. That was like 50% of her show. No one was complaining. Plus she was spreading nothing but love and positivity. I love that. She’s really using her platform to be a role model for these females out here. It’s so beautiful. This was her first spiel- telling her fans to donate to charity and highlighting the importance of community.

I still can’t get over how far Kehlani has come. This show was like, a legit show. She was an entertainer. I’ve seen her in the past and have always been underwhelmed. Tonight just proved why she’s on top of the game. She asked where her day 1 fans were before performing “The Way,” her record with Chance The Rapper. Even her choreography was A1. Her two backup dancers and her were literally in sync the entire hour and half she was on stage. It was amazing.

Next, she performed “Get Like” and “Gangsta” from Suicide Squad. I personally loved that film. And the scene with her song was one of the highlights. Next she performed “Everything Is Yours” and again, I couldn’t help to notice how the fans knew every word. Every single song she played. Unreal. “Undercover” is one of my favs. Shamelessly play this on max volume when I’m in my whip.

Kehlani always puts on for her hometown of Oakland. She told everybody to go up there and spend some time in that city (if they haven’t) because it’s beautiful. She also gave an amazing speech on love before performing “Piece of Mind.” She kept emphasizing throwing out the negative in your life. Such a powerful message. She even shouted out the LGBT community and encouraged everyone to come out on their own time.

“Personal” had me in my feels. Thank you, Kehlani. For being so transparent and being so talented. We left a song or two early to beat the crowd and missed this whole plaque presentation. Love that Nick Cannon was up there lmao. My girl totally spotted him backstage earlier.
