Happy Sunday! Today was day 2 of the official #MoneyFight pop-up shop in LA. I had to go. It was 30 minutes out of my way too, all the way at Hall of Fame on Fairfax. Hashtag FOMO. This was only in Las Vegas and LA, in light of the #MayweatherMcGregor fight this Saturday. I honestly wanted to get the flick for DX Gram lmao.

Fairfax was dumb packed because of the hypebeast Supreme drop. Like wtf are these kids waiting in line for? *breathes* The Hall of Fame shop was empty. Just when I thought the outside decorations were lit af, the inside proved to be even better. What excellent marketing and promotion. There was the biggest selection of special edition fight night merchandise and apparel from Mayweather and The Money Team.
Yeah, I admit I have a secret obsession with #TMT. Floyd is so entertaining to me. I prob won’t even watch the fight lmao. I got the press release in my inbox and it said there would be a “larger than life perspective on what on what fight fans can expect from the mega-event set for August 26th between boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC® champion “The Notorious” Conor McGregor.” Accurate. There was a pretty lit photo booth upstairs too. Shout out to the homeboy Corey for mobbing with me. He understands my love for fashion and pop-up shops.
Next up, I head straight to The Fonda Theater in the heart of Hollywood. Only this time, it wasn’t just a show. It was for something far greater. Introducing Girl Cult Festival. Their mission statement says it all: GIRL CULT IS A FESTIVAL FOR KICKASS WOMEN AND ALLIES WHO WANT TO COME TOGETHER AND CREATE A NEW VISION. Had to keep it in all caps because it gets the point across.
I’m actually sad I found out about this so late. Literally, just yesterday, my homegirl hits me and asked if I was going. She was freaking out she knew about an event before me lmao. I saw Sevyn on the bill and immediately knew I wanted to come support. The fact that this was all about female empowerment too made it that much more worth it. Huge thanks to Brittany for taking care of me. She’s the absolute sweetest. Sometimes I just appreciate someone so much and don’t know how to repay them and it kills me lmao.
Of course, set times are life. They were running behind af, which totally worked in my favor. My goal was to catch Justine Skye, who I keep missing every time she performs in LA. The moment I walk inside the historic Fonda, my eyes were pulled in all directions. There was so much to look at, from the merch table with the cutest GirlCult hoodies to the fashion forward attendees… it was an immediate vibe. The goal was to create an environment that embraced and celebrated all cultures and backgrounds, and they did just that.
FINALLY caught @JustineSkye live and she's bae. ✨ @girlcultfest pic.twitter.com/7SxzIJjbVB

I waited patiently for Justine in the photo pit, where I met her aunt and assistant. They were both so sweet. Justine hails from Brooklyn, and she is signed to Roc Nation. If JAY fucks with her, you know she’s good. She performed “U Don’t Know” featuring Wizkid and then introduced her EP 8 Ounces. “Girlfriend” and “Love Song” were next off the project.

Homegirl can dance, and she got a booty. The crowd was here for it. Girls in the front knew every word. That was a beautiful sight. Next, she performed “I’m Yours,” which I was proud to recognize. That’s her hit single with Vic Mensa. Towards the end, she hops off stage and walks right by me, proceeding to get real intimate with the fans. Love when artists do that. Little to their knowledge, they could be changing one fan’s life.
She closed her set with her newest single “Back For More” featuring Jeremih. But not before throwing out free shirts into the crowd. I wanted one lmao. Shout out to her backup dancers and all the dope choreography on stage. It’s one thing to sing, but do able to do both, homegirl is definitely talented.
my gyal @shirju broke my $700 barton perreira glasses rn… but it serves me right for owning anything that costs $700 pic.twitter.com/V4N8drhoXU

By this time, my babygirl FINALLY arrives. And then I break her glasses. I literally bump into her while she was holding them and one of the end pieces snaps right off. I felt so fucking terrible. And even worst after this tweet because I didn’t know they were 7 bills. Fml lmao. If I had the money…
PROLLY. 💎 @sevyn is queen. @girlcultfest pic.twitter.com/85WQr7Fo3g

Leave it to Sevyn to make me feel better. Every time I see her, she’s so on. She shows out every single time she hits that stage. Talk about being a role model for the females, she’s been in the game for a minute. And she’s worked with all the hottest artists. “Prolly” featuring Gucci Mane is one of my favorites.
"LIVIN" by @sevyn 🔥🔥@girlcultfest pic.twitter.com/U8Q2deGoN2

Sevyn is “Livin.” Outfit, makeup, hair, always on point. After this joint, she performed one of her breakout hits: “It Won’t Stop.”
“Anything U Want” featuring Ty$, Wiz, and Jeremih was a highlight. She closed out her set with “Soon As I Get Home” and the crowd exploded with applause and cheers.
Holy crap. I did not even realize there was an ENTIRE upstairs and outdoor portion of the event. So this is where everyone was… got it. I was just sad because I heard they were giving away free clothes from Nasty Gal earlier. Actual tears. Nasty Gal is lit af. I used to fuck with them heavy in my shopaholic days. The rooftop was a party in itself. There were vendors, dope photo booths, lots of mingling… everyone was genuinely enjoying themselves. At this point, the festival portion came to life.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the new music acts I saw, whom I wasn’t aware of. Diana Gordon for one, absolutely bodied her set. Such an amazing voice. She sang “Woman” in acoustic and probably made a fan of every single person who was watching her. We went back upstairs to catch some of Leaf before Snoh Aalegra downstairs. She did a super dope cover of Travis Scott’s “Goosebumps.”
.@girlcultfest just played "pieces of me" by @ashleesimpson and i'm screaming lmao

We went back to the photo pit to wait for Kimora when the DJ dropped “Pieces Of Me” by Ashlee Simpson. I died a little. High school nostalgia. AND THEN, she pops up on stage. Died even more lmao.
10 feet away from @OfficialKimora and had to contain myself. i am not worthy. @girlcultfest pic.twitter.com/MUJncDU2v1

Next up… the moment we’ve all been waiting for. KIMORA LEE SIMMONS. aka my Asian soul sista. She is life goals lmao. She was married to Russell Simmons, if you guys didn’t make that connection. Homegirl is a fashion icon. She started out modeling and eventually started her own fashion line called Baby Phat. That shit was a movement.

This was a live Q&A with the crowd, who all were dying over Kimora’s presence just like I was. Can we talk about how cute her kids are too? One was shy, but the other wasn’t lmao. Kimora shed light on her story and how she pushed through to follow her dreams. They used to call her chinky giraffe. I could def relate to the chinky part. Being Asian in a predominantly white-washed community was not easy growing up.

There was a girl who was so inspired by Kimora, she came all the way from Nigeria to go to fashion school here. She asked Kimora for advise on how to become like her. I’m pretty sure that touched everyone in the room tonight. Unfortunately, I could not stay for Tyra Banks, but I lived vicariously through my girl’s Snaps. She is so fire.
