Jonah Hill’s Mid90’s Is A Pure Masterpiece

Omg. Mid90’s was fucking incredible. Nothing I say will do it justice, you just need to go see this. The film is written and directed by Jonah Hill, who I really hope wins as many awards as possible. Not sure if word is spreading but everything about this movie was just so spot on. Every detail, the hip-hop, the rollercoaster we go through as teenagers… it was perfect.

IMDB plot: Follows Stevie, a thirteen-year-old in 90s-era LA who spends his summer navigating between his troubled home life and a group of new friends that he meets at a Motor Avenue skate shop.

It’s basically about a 13-year-old who finds himself through his new skateboarder friends, and “fitting in.” I actually think I saw one of the actors, Na-Kel Smith, at Weezy’s Carter V listening. I can’t tell you exactly what the point of the film is, but I definitely think it’s subjective. It touches on so much of what’s happening in today’s society, and gives you a different perspective on why kids do what they do.

Shout out to my bros for mobbing with me, we hit the 8pm showing at Edwards in Alhambra — half-off Sundays! A movie ticket is only $5.45. Can’t beat that. The movie is less than 90 minutes long, so it’s fucking perfect. Our entire theater was clapping. It was lit.

I have nothing bad to say about this movie other than please go see it. It was also incredibly nostalgic and reminded me of my troubled times as a teenager. Feels.
