If you don’t know what the sauce is, Sosamann will tell you.
Hailing from Houston, the “Drip nation” rapper has been locked in the studio, creating bangers and dripping sauce everywhere he goes.
At the top of the year, he unleashed Sauce Eskobar 2, the follow-up to Sauce Eskobar, with features from Gunna, Wiz Khalifa, NBA Youngboy, and Hoodrich Pablo Juan.
AllHipHop caught up with Sosamann during a recording session with Smooky Margielaa in North Hollywood.
AllHipHop: For those who don’t know, who is Sosamann?
Sosamann: Sosamann is the one and only. He’s the one that drips sauce, and everything in between.

AllHipHop: You just released Sauce Eskobar 2. How has the fan reception been?
Sosamann: It’s been more than excellent. It’s been brazy as f##k. s##t’s hard as hell.
AllHipHop: Is that the H-town accent?
Sosamann: It ain’t H-town, that’s Sauce-anese.
AllHipHop: What was the creative process and how long did it take you?
Sosamann: I kind of been had a lot of songs done, but I had to make sure all of the s##t was in the right place before I just put it out there. I could have dropped it last year, but I wanted to wait until the beginning of the year started. And that’s what happened.
AllHipHop: Being a part of Taylor Gang, do you have to do all the label s##t with the music clearing? Orr are you independent with that?
Sosamann: Taylor Gang, they my brothers. That’s my family. I’m signed to a management deal. I’m signed to TSF. I’m signed to myself, me and my twins. I don’t have to get any label clearances, I know how to do that s##t. I’m in creative control of everything myself, on my own. I’m in creative control of Sosamann. I create this drip, I can rock this splash, and I can lend these people some sauce.
AllHipHop: Do you think LA is hip to the sauce?
Sosamann: Man, Mars is hip to the sauce. Them aliens out there are hip to this s##t. For real, they’re out there. Everywhere: Jupiter, Neptune, all that.
AllHipHop: And you created it correct?
Sosamann: Me and my twins we put it out there to the world.
AllHipHop: Wait, Sauce Walka is your twin?
Sosamann: Yes ma’am. Sauce Walka and Sancho Saucey are my twins. We gave the world a whole new wave. They really love me. This sauce is going to last forever. Everything else got an expiration date on it. It’s going to die one of these days.
AllHipHop: How do you like LA? Do you miss Houston?
AllHipHop: Top 5 Houston rappers and where do you see yourself fit?
Sosamann: My favorite rapper period is Fat Pat, over everybody. Then my twins. I’d say Big Pokey, I’d say Youngstar, Big Moe. I’d just put a bunch of Houston legends. I don’t have a top 5, Fat Pat is just #1.
I grew up on screw music. I’m from the South. I’m not going to sit up here and say I grew up on Slim Thug and all that, ‘cause I never really listened to Northside’s people music. Because I’m from the Southside of town.
Once I got older, I started listening to Slim Thug and s##t like that, but I grew up on Southside music. Screw.
AllHipHop: On “Fuego,” you say “I went from selling dope to selling some shows.”
Sosamann: That’s true. I grew up selling dope. I grew up selling crack. I grew up doing brazy ass s##t. That’s how I came up. Now, I don’t got to do that no more.
AllHipHop: What sets you apart from other street rappers?
Sosamann: I’m not a street rapper. I’m just a sauce n##ga. I just spit it how I live it. Give these folks drip. Give these folks something they can go home and study. But this s##t ain’t free, the sauce costs.
AllHipHop: Talk about combining your H-town Sauce with Gunna’s Atlanta Drip.
Sosamann: I mean, I can’t combine the sauce and the drip, because the drip is the sauce. That’s what you do. You drip the sauce. We gave these folks the drip. It’s not me combining it, we just got together and the sauce and drip — that’s what you got to drip. We’re just telling these folks “aye, I got some sauce to drip.” That’s what the drip is though, it’s the sauce.
AllHipHop: You guys linked on “Drip Nation” too.
Sosamann: We linked up on “Drip Nation.” Shout out my boy Ice LaFlare, TSF producer. He put that together. He put me on it. It was really Ice’s song, but he put me on it and put it out.
AllHipHop: I love the message on “Hunger Games.” Can you talk about the pain?
Sosamann: It’s just what we go through. Me & YB, that’s all. I can’t really talk about it. It is what it is. You can feel it in the song.
AllHipHop: Talk about working w/ NBA Youngboy who IMO has his fans on lock.
Sosamann: That’s my little brother. He came up listening to my music. He’s from Baton Rouge. Texas and Louisiana, we’re right there. We all just f##ked with each other. They were in Houston for a little bit before they took off like they did.
Then YB just f##ked with me, I was one of his favorite rappers before he blew up like that. That’s my little brother, I love that n##ga. He’s a s##t show. We got a lot of songs, Me and YB got like 8 songs together.
AllHipHop: What was it like seeing him sign with a major label and all of that? Did it make a difference in your opinion?
Sosamann: Not at all. I don’t be think about none of that. Dripping sauce be on my mind all the times.
AllHipHop: You say, “I got dreams in the making I ain’t catch yet.” What are some goals for yourself as an artist at this point of your career?
Sosamann: To keep making racks on racks. Trying to get this s##t to a hundred millions. Just trying to keep making money, that’s what I’m about. Keep giving these fans something they can keep on loving. Give them personality, living day to day with me.
AllHipHop: I know artists tend to have their own favorites on the project that aren’t singles, what are your favorites?
Sosamann: I love “Deep Thoughts” because it’s some real ass s##t. I f##k with “Cheetos.” I love that one because I really just did it a couple days ago before I put out the album. That s##t’s just too hard to me. Then “Light Bulb” is just one of those favorite songs. “Hunger Games” and “Drippin On” is just amazing, but I love all of them.
AllHipHop: Best memory in the studio with Wiz?
Sosamann: Smoking weed. Smoking big weed.
AllHipHop: Could you stay up with him?
Sosamann: I’m trying to see if they can stay up with me. I’m trying to see if the world can stay up with me. We’re talking about smoking, I’m trying to see if anyone in the world can keep up with me. We’re going to blow that s##t down. Especially with Taylor Gang, we’re going to damn sure blow it down. That’s my brother for sure.
AllHipHop: What did you do with your first music bag?
Sosamann: s##t, I been had nice s##t though. I haven’t really done anything big with a music bag yet because I’m just trying to keep on. I’m just trying to wait. Give me time and do something real big.
I’ll buy a fat ass mansion or go overseas to another country, do something to make people go like “oh s##t.” When it comes to material s##t, we been had that s##t.
AllHipHop: What was it like seeing your name on Carter V?
Sosamann: I was amazed. That s##t was brazy. That s##t was gigantic!
AllHipHop: Where were you when you found out?
Sosamann: I was asleep. I woke up to a whole bunch of tweets. Everybody calling me like “boy, you’re on Carter V.” I’m like “goddamn what?!”
AllHipHop: Drake was supposed to be on that record right?
Sosamann: I don’t know if Drake or whoever was supposed to be on that record, but Sosa’s on that motherf##ker.
I didn’t really know he was going to put it out. I love Tunechi for that. He’s my big homie. He got me my first Gold and Platinum plaque. Carter V, ya’ll still stream that. Get that “What About Me.”
