24KGoldn proves he’s the rarest, finest, most authentic in the rap game.

Hailing from San Francisco and currently a freshman at USC, the versatile rapper broke out onto the scene with his single “Valentino,” who’s music video hit 1.8M views in less than a month of its release.

Now, the 18-year-old celebrates a new deal with Columbia Records, finding himself alongside Polo G, Lil Tjay, and Yung Bleu on The Draft roster.

AllHipHop: For those who don’t know, who is 24KGoldn?

24KGoldn: The 24 karat stands for a jewelry term. The most pure gold is 24 karat gold, so me being 24KGoldn is me being the most pure representation of myself. I’m a singer, rapper, songwriter, I’m a USC honors student right now.

AllHipHop: Honors!

24KGoldn: Lemme just shout out USC, I didn’t pay to get in. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Scholarship?

24KGoldn: Full scholarship on academics. I’m a freshman so I’ve been in college 6 months now. It’s cool, it’s a lot of fun. It’s definitely hard to balance all the school, work, girls, working out, the extracurriculars, but it’s worth it. I love what I’m doing.

AllHipHop: What are you studying?

24KGoldn: I’m a business major.

AllHipHop: Do your peers know what’s happening for you?

24KGoldn: Yeah, it gets a little bit hectic on campus sometimes. If I go to a party or something, I damn near gotta come with security. I should come with security ‘cause it’s just a lot of people who know who I am. But I appreciate it ‘cause it’s all love. They like me ‘cause they like my music so I’m happy with that.

AllHipHop: Talk about your journey with Colombia.

24KGoldn: So D.A Doman who if you don’t know, produced “Taste,” “ZeZe,” all that stuff — maybe a month or 2 before “Taste” started blowing up, he had seen my song “Ballin’ Like Shareef.” He was like “yo I like this,” and sent me a cold email.

AllHipHop: Really? Wtf!

24KGoldn: I know right? It feels like it doesn’t happen anymore but I guess it does. I came to LA, met with him. Played him my other song “Valentino.” He was like “yeah this kid is dope.” Sent my music to Barry Weiss over at RECORDS. RECORDS loved it, Columbia loved it, and a couple days after my 18th birthday, I signed.

AllHipHop: How many girls have you pulled with “Valentino”?

24KGoldn: Uh… no comment. [laughs]

AllHipHop: What was the best part of shooting the visual?

24KGoldn: I just liked working with the director Edgar Esteves (Quavo, Lil Baby, Kevin Gates) and the whole team. Everyone was super cool and had really great ideas of stuff on the fly. We did it really fast too, that whole video was shot in probably 7 hours.

AllHipHop: Who’s in your Top 5?

24KGoldn: New Top 5? 24KGoldn, 03 Greedo, would you consider Young Thug new? Young Thug. I really been f##king with Lancey Foux lately, he’s like the British Young Thug. He’s super tight. To round it out, who have I been listening to a lot? I’m bouta pull out my playlist real quick. T-Pain’s new album is fire. Every song goes hard. “Rest in peace to the parking lot!” [T-Pain voice]

AllHipHop: Isn’t he before your time?

24KGoldn: It’s a little old, but new at the same time. I was a youngin’ when T-Pain was still getting his prime time, but he might be back in the spotlight after this album.

AllHipHop: What can we expect from your upcoming EP, Boutique?

24KGoldn: The EP is called boutique, the concept behind it is each song is a different designer name. You all heard “Valentino” already, there’s gonna be some “Chanel,” “CDG,” I don’t wanna give away too much right now but it’s just all bangers.

It’s not necessarily about these designer brands but it’s the emotions they evoke, the imagery, what’s associated with that brand and their designs.

AllHipHop: I feel like you gotta have the Atlanta rappers on “Chanel.” Lil Baby, Gunna…

24KGoldn: Shhhh. [smiles] I can’t say too much, but anything is possible.

AllHipHop: What’s a normal day in the life? Walk us through.

24KGoldn: So wake up at about 1 or 2 pm.

AllHipHop: No 8am classes?

24KGoldn: Nah, we was done with that first semester. [laughs] I learned my lesson. Wake up, if I’m feeling so inclined, maybe hit the gym. Then I have a studio session about every day now, whether it’s for myself or writing for someone else. I just like to be productive, not waste too much time. At night, that’s when I waste time. Go out, hang with friends, hit the club or whatever.

AllHipHop: Damn what club? You 18 bro!

24KGoldn: My ID say I’m 22. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Dream collab?

24KGoldn: It’d probably be me, T-Pain, and Kanye West all on some autotune s##t.

AllHipHop: When did you discover you could sing?

24KGoldn: I was always into singing. In middle school, I did some choir. Last year of high school for the visual performing arts requirement, I did choir. I was always told I had a good voice, but I never really incorporated it into my music until I got live autotune. Because I was always comfortable with my voice, but the autotune just gives it the extra sauce. Even if you can sing, it just turns your voice into an instrument.
