Happy Sunday. My heart is so full. I just saw Shazam! with my bros & I’m really starting to understand the importance of life and time spend with your loved ones. I actually went to a NA meeting tonight for the first time in years (thanks Mosche) & actually felt like I belonged. This blog itself will serve as a reminder to hold on to these feelings & use them as motivation to get better and be happy.

I literally got back from the Philippines yesterday so I missed the whole Shazam! hype but I soon realized it has nothing to do with music. It’s just a feel-good comic book film by DC Comics — original at that. We hit the 10:40pm showing at Regal L.A. Live, which was in the main theater. Empty af lmao but saw a few people alone & it made me happy to see they were able to enjoy the evening also.
IMDB plot: We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s case, by shouting out one word – SHAZAM. – this streetwise fourteen-year-old foster kid can turn into the grown-up superhero Shazam.
We are literally all superheroes. There was a point in the film that said you can’t be a superhero if you can’t save your own family and that’s so fucking true. Yourself even. It’s 2 hours and 12 minutes so def committed, my eyes fell at one point. But it’s so cute. It’s very PG slash PG-13, so family friendly I guess. It’s about a kid named Billy who’s been in and out of foster homes. It’s so, so humbling to see what foster parents actually go through in taking a stranger in.
The very end is the best part! You’ll see why. Super recommend this movie. Can’t wait for the sequel.
