‘Ma’ Was Creepy AF

May 31, 2019

Friday, May 31st

Happy Friday! Happy last day of May. Time is fucking flying. Tonight, we went to go see Ma, which was creepy af. I hadn’t seen the trailers before entering the theater, but someone told me it was the white version of Get Out. It was not lmao. At all. After a long ass day, we hit the 6:50pm showing at AMC Burbank 6. One of the 3 AMC’s in a mile radius… that fucked us up.

This is one of those scary movies that you just go in with an open mind. Octavia Spencer is definitely the main steez, but now every time I see her, I’ll never be able to get that creepy ass character out of my mind. She’s done hella movies, like Academy Award-winning movies (The Help, Hidden Figures, etc.) — but this was straight out of left field.

IMDB plot: A lonely woman befriends a group of teenagers and decides to let them party at her house. Just when the kids think their luck couldn’t get any better, things start happening that make them question the intention of their host.

My favorite person in the film was actually Diana Silvers, who was in Booksmart. She’s hella pretty. Basically, Octavia plays a crazy black woman taking kids hostage. Scary-wise, I def jumped and screamed a solid few times. It was entertaining, but a bit slow. The entire film is an hour 40 minutes so totally doable. It was a bunch of high school kids drinking, smoking, and having fun.

I miss those days. :'(
