‘Yesterday’ Is A Heartwarming Film About The Beatles

Happy Thursday. I just touched down in the Bay & went to the movies lmao. Shout out to Jonrey for mobbing w/ me to see Yesterday. Deadass the only movie out I haven’t seen. I came back with my bros from Burbank to San Jose, went home to get the minivan & hit the 10pm showing at AMC Mercado 20. I love this AMC. It brings back hella memories from high school.

Off the rip, you’re taken into one aspiring singer-songwriter’s wildest dreams of becoming a superstar. The setting takes place in London with all British accents, which I love. The dude who ends up making it is your average Joe. Being Indian and working in a supermarket, he’s totally the minority. But one day he gets into an accident & the world seems to have lost complete memory of some of the greats, including The Beatles.

IMDB plot: A struggling musician realizes he’s the only person on Earth who can remember The Beatles after waking up in an alternate timeline where they never existed.

He then uses all their biggest hit songs & turns them into his own — fooling everyone around him. It’s really interesting actually because it’s kind of rare nowadays for an artist to write ALL their own music. It also brought you into the reality of the music industry, and all the bullshit it comes with.

My favorite part had to be when Ed Sheeran popped into the film, was totally not expecting that. But it was super cute. Length of the film is 2 hours flat, but all The Beatles’ greatest hits are sprinkled through. “Hey Jude,” “Let It Be,” “She Loves You,” etc. Rock will forever be a part of our culture.
