‘Midway’ Recounts A Tragic Battle In World War II

Damn, where do I even begin? First off, this has been quite possibly the worst week of my life. For those who don’t know, I was involved in a near fatal car accident last Saturday and I fractured my wrist. It was the worst pain I’ve ever felt my life, I was in the hospital 4 to 5 days and had to get surgery. Now, this recovery process has been anything but easy. I’ve gone 29 years without breaking a bone… just my luck.

Flew home Tuesday & have been trying to not work but it’s impossible. On Thanksgiving, we went to see Midway at AMC Mercado 20 at 3:20pm. Both my brother and dad were super excited about this movie. It’s about a battle that took place in World War II between the Japanese and Americans, 6 months after Pearl Harbor. The movie itself was over 2  hours: about 2 hours & 18 minutes. I’d definitely say the action was great, I was just in so much pain I couldn’t fully enjoy it.

IMDB plot: The story of the Battle of Midway, told by the leaders and the sailors who fought it.

The film had a lot of big-time cast members including Ed SkreinPatrick WilsonWoody Harrelson, and even one of the Jonas Brothers. My bro & I legit laughed. My dad specifically wanted to see this because it involved the Chinese and it detailed the battle and how tragic it was to see so many lives lost over nothing. I’m always down for movies that are educational and informational, and based on the true story.

Afterwards, my dad had to take me to the emergency room at El Camino Hospital because I was so nauseous and so much pain. We had to wait a couple hours but I finally got a physician’s assistant to prescribe anti-nausea medication. In that moment, I was honestly so grateful for everyone and anyone who works in the medical field/the hospital — especially seeing them work on a holiday like Thanksgiving. While I’m suffering now, I’m extremely grateful that God spared my life because things could’ve gone way worse than they did.

Have a lot more on my mind but going to try to think on a more positive note. ALSO haven’t been on my phone, so sorry if I haven’t texted you back. I’m getting there.
