I feel so bad saying this, but Richard Jewell was not it. Mostly feel bad because it’s directed and produced by Clint Eastwood, who is a legend. I always feel bad knocking someone’s work like this but shit, this movie was way too slow. It’s also based on a true story which is also why feel bad, but I’m just keeping it mad real.
IMDB plot: American security guard Richard Jewell (Paul Walter Hauser) saves thousands of lives from an exploding bomb at the 1996 Olympics, but is vilified by journalists and the press who falsely reported that he was a terrorist.
The movie’s IG bio reads: a Clint Eastwood film based on a true story. The plots surrounds a bomb that took place at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta in 1996. I was 5 years old, brazy. Pretty much, this wannabe cop discovers a suspicious backpack in the park & ends up calling it in. Thanks to him, he saved a bunch of people’s lives because the cops started pushing people back away from the bomb.
And then all of a sudden, the FBI decides they want to charge him as the suspect who planted the bomb. Crazy honestly how quickly things can escalate in a heartbeat. I think there’s so much potential in this movie but it was just so slow and dragged on. It was 2 hours and 11 minutes long & coulda been wayyyy shorter. Snooze fest.
My bro & I hit the 10:10pm showing at AMC Mercado 20 which was empty af. BUT… I discovered they have heat theaters here on top of the leather reclining seats. Deadass, I hit the button on accident and all of a sudden I was so warm. So lit, I’m here for it.
