Holy fuck. I just saw Little Women and it was incredible. Literally so good, I can’t get over it. Me & Val both cried. Shit was crazy intense and emotional. Where do I begin? Today, I flew back to Los Angeles (Burbank to be exact) from the Bay. Our flight was mad delayed, Southwest has not been coming through. But understandable ’cause the weather has been shit. That wind when we landed was no joke…
Went to go see Little Women at 10:15pm at AMC Burbank 16. The movies is literally my happy place. But also got to catch up with a good friend & it was a much-needed hangout. Shout out to Val for swooping my carless ass, means the world. So this movie got 96% on Rotton Tomatoes, issa win. Plus it stars Emma Watson from Harry Potter, she’s bae. Saoirse Ronan plays Jo who is more or less the main character, she was phenomenal. I found out AFTER the fact the third sister is played by Florence Pugh who was in Midsommar. Seriously, fuck that movie.
IMDB plot: Four sisters come of age in America in the aftermath of the Civil War.
Okay, this plot says nothing. But the whole time I’m like… is this based on a novel? Because I faintly remember reading it in high school. Confirmed. Wikipedia says it’s “the eighth film adaptation of the 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott.” Holy shit, 8 is a lot. But this film was honestly, truly incredible. Definitely the best thus far. All the details from the production to the costumes to the cast to the plot… it was just fire.
The life messages are what really made us emotional. Lots of moments where you’re just like “wow, that’s so fucking sweet.” It’s basically a household with 4 sisters and a fucking superstar mom. Seriously, she’s superwoman. The movie starts out with her asking the girls on Christmas morning to give their breakfast to a house down the way where 5 kids were all sharing a bed under one roof. My fucking heart.
The film is jampacked with romance and it’s so interesting to see what life was like back in those days of the war. At one point, Meryl Streep who plays the aunt tells one of the sisters they HAVE to marry rich. She says that’s the only way she’d be able to save the family. Meanwhile, I’m about to be 29 & single af. I haven’t even thought of dating. What is life?
One of the sisters ends up getting sick & the story unfolds. It’s super dramatic, but not in a bad way. The film is 2 hours & 15 minutes long. I didn’t check my phone once. I was so into it lmao. I’m just sad we chose to see Uncut Gems on Christmas because I think my mom would have really loved this movie. Honestly, it was so entertaining. Please go see it. So worth the penny.
