14-year-old Kaatii immerses us in a mesmerizing “Dreamland” with her new single of the same name, premiered today exclusively on Flaunt. After releasing strong songs such as “Swept Up” and “Afraid of the Dark” this past year to rave reviews and amassing over 120K Spotify streams on each release, “Dreamland” is her most intimate effort yet. Kaatii says, “This song represents my growth as an artist, it’s a lot more raw and emotional. Out of all my music, this one feels the most like a personal diary entry.”

With her recent successes and a steadily growing fanbase of supporters on both Spotify (over 18,000 monthly listeners) and Instagram, Kaatii is becoming more and more comfortable expressing vulnerability within her music, and it shows. “Dreamland,” co-written with Kara Connolly, produced/mixed by Dan Sadin and mastered by Alex Gordon at Abbey Road Studios, was written about a crush who repeatedly showed up in Kaatii’s dreams and takes you through the depths of her subconscious.

“It’s about liking someone enough to where it seems a little like an obsession,” Kaatii recounts, “The world inside your head can be super confusing and overwhelming, especially when someone you barely know shows up in your thoughts more often than necessary. This song was an attempt at picking it all apart… wondering whether she felt the same way too and was meeting me in her dreams as well. I love Flaunt Magazine and am so grateful this song is finally out in the world, it’s my favorite one yet!”

Kaatii’s emotionally charged alto and ethereal harmonies remind us of indie star Angel Olsen‘s critically acclaimed debut studio album Burn Your Fire For No Witness. The track’s verbed electric guitars and raw intensity are reminiscent of her heroes Beabadoobee and Oscar Lang, whom Kaatii seems fit to open for.

“Kara and I are writing again next week,” Kaatii shares exclusively with Flaunt. With her first EP expected later this summer, she gives us plenty to look forward to and dream about.
