Ryan Reynolds Stars As Own Superhero In ‘Free Guy’

August 28, 2021

Friday, August 27th

Happy Friday! Life is crazy rn, but I say that every time. I had a pretty long day & just remembered something that warmed my heart to the fullest: I gifted my bro his bday present (8/31 is his bday, idk why I felt to need to gift him early). He loved it. I’ve always been really scared of spending money, something literally I had to work on in therapy. I always slaved part-time jobs my entire life, majority of the time two jobs at once. One: always had to earn my own money the hard way, not relying on my parents. Two: work ethic is everything. I’m a go-getter, in every aspect of the word.

This week has been a whirlwind. Shot 3 episodes of Shirley’s Temple on Wednesday, shout out to Mozzy and Trevor Jackson. Two people I really fucking adore and cherish, and who’s music I  love equally as much. Last night I got to interview one of my favorite artists at the moment: Mariah The Scientist. She performed at the Echoplex and gave me SO MUCH LIFE. Shout out to Jennifer, she made it happen for me. Tory Lanez was there, she’s signed to his label. Shy Glizzy, King Combs, Buddy, and a few more pulled up as well.

To end the week on a high note, went to go see Free Guy in the movie theaters. We hit the 10:30pm showing at AMC Atlantic 14. It’s the new superhero movie featuring Ryan Reynolds, a bank teller inside a videogame who discovers he’s just a nobody in the background. Definitely a comedy, Lil Rel Howery plays Reynods’ best friend, it made you appreciate friendships so much. The story is surrounded around the fact this Ryan guy becomes real artificial intelligence, thanks to coders in the real world. Not sure if what I wrote makes sense, but watch the movie and let me know.

More detailed plot: When a bank teller discovers he’s actually a background player in an open-world video game, he decides to become the hero of his own story — one that he can rewrite himself. In a world where there’s no limits, he’s determined to save the day his way before it’s too late, and maybe find a little romance with the coder who conceived him.

There’s so many life messages and takeaways! That has to be my favorite part: the love, the moments we need to cherish, everything. The only thing was it was hella long, like unnecessary long. It’s only 2 hours, but they could have definitely done under 1 hour 30 minutes. I was literally waiting to find out what would happen in the end. The jokes were on point though, the details and the script was A1. It honestly was entertaining af.

All in all, solid film. I recommend.
