Bekah Novi is here to prove her talents in the music industry. Born in East Los Angeles and growing up singing in the Russian Church, the singer-songwriter prides herself in her vocals. Inspired heavily by 90’s rock which her dad often played in the household, Bekah quickly gravitated to music that felt free, a little wild and crazy.
Today, she returns to unleash her debut EP titled Typical Lover, premiered exclusively on Flaunt. Serving as her first release, the album blends the genres of alternative and pop, with lyrics fueled by love, pain, conflict, and a chaotic mind.
Speaking on the project, Bekah states, “I wanted the music to feel cinematic, as if you could see what’s upon happening while listening. A story of a girl meets boy going completely wrong and right at the same time. A classic love story in my mind which may sound a bit tragic. I knew the music had to be honest. I don’t think I was secure enough before to say what I needed, I had to grow into my fearlessness.”
Typical Lover is inspired by a love that’s real and vulnerable, good and bad, beautiful yet catastrophic. Regardless of who’s listening, Bekah ensures her music to be unapologetic and uncensored.
She adds, “I’ve always had an affinity for 90’s rock music and strong female voices like Alanis Morissette and Hayley Williams, so the direction was simple. I don’t want to put this music in a box, I just want everyone to feel the freedom I felt while making it when they listen.”
Bekah hopes to be a protagonist in her own world, and down the line a mainstay in the rock space.
