Life comes with all sorts of obstacles, no matter where you are in the world. Luckily, music brings healing power to all those who listen. Insert OK MAYDAY, the Virginia-bred band who’s here to bless our ears any chance they can. The quartet is composed of brothers David and Kelly Bollmann, Stephen Lee and Matthew Osborn, straddling the genres of pop and indie rock.
Now, OK MAYDAY returns with their newest single and visual for “Colorful,” which stems from a difficult moment in the band’s career and musical journey. A collaboration between Ok Mayday, J Warner, Clare Reynolds, and Harmony “H-Money” Samuels, the song reminds you that change is coming, as long as you manifest it into existence.
Speaking on the song, OK MAYDAY states, “‘Colorful’ is a special record for us for a number of reasons. The origination really was during a space of disappointments and unknowns for the future of Ok Mayday. We wrote it as a declaration that a change was coming, even though we couldn’t necessarily see it quite yet. The beautiful thing about collaborating with our co-writers from London and Sydney on this one made it a much more global song right off the bat. Change comes from within… but it also requires a tribe to be around you and support you. This is our song that took a tribe and is so grateful it’s resonating the way it is!!”
The Colorful Change campaign is one the guys are really excited about. Some of the best art is created in collaboration with other people because it’s a universal language. Ok Mayday is asking friends and fans to record themselves doing something creative, whether it’s cooking, painting, dancing, building… anything. Tag @okmayday to submit to be included in the “Colorful” lyric video. They will be picking one lucky participant to receive a custom-made, hand-painted jacket, just like they made in the video.
It’s a campaign to be colorful in your collaborations, to use your gift or passion and share it with the world.
