Holy fuck you guys… it’s 2022!!! What is happening lmao, life is crazy. But you know what, I’m all about gratitude right now. Really on an upwards journey with my spirituality & super excited to gain even more wisdom & inner peace. Anyways! Last night I went to see West Side Story at AMC Burbank 16. Last movie I saw here was The Addams Family which was so adorable! I actually saw the previews for this movie & thought it would be cool, just because I do love musicals. This is a modern day version of the old school classic from 1961!! Crazy. And that one was based off a play from 1957. So crazy how movies can transcend generations like this.
IMDB plot: An adaptation of the 1957 musical, West Side Story explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.
Disclaimer: the movie is 2 hours & 36 minutes long. And it’s directed by Steven Spielberg. That’s the GOAT right there. I wish they told you these things before the credits at the end, because I truly believe it will make the movie that much more powerful. Like if they informed everyone that Denzel Washington directed A Journal For Jordan at the BEGINNING, I’m sure there would be a lot more respect for the film. Just my two cents. But off the rip, West Side Story lays down the ground that there’s a lot of racism going on, mostly the whites against the Hispanics. It’s really interesting, ’cause I’m sure back then is a lot worse than it is now.
west side story was so emotional😭

If you’ve seen the first movie, then you already know what happens. But the plot had me shook!! The girl Maria falls in love with a white boy, which ends up causing a fight between both races. The white boy ends up killing her brother, & then she proceeds to sleep with him that night! Like WHAT?! That is not normal lmao if the man I loved killed my brother, I would be fucking livid. That’s your blood brother sis. Get it together.
Anyways going back to work. This isn’t a must-see, but definitely entertaining. I’d definitely recommend Sing 2 instead lmao I just am obsessed with how cute that film was!
