Drax Project are about to go “Crazy,” also the name of their newest release. On Jan 21st, New Zealand’s slickest live band are celebrating the release of their first single since the country emerged from lockdown.  Composed of Shaan Singh (lead vocals, sax, keys), Matt Beachen (drums), Sam Thomson (bass, keys, BVs) and Ben O’Leary (Guitar, keys, BVs), Drax Project is paving their way to becoming one of the most popular groups to come out of New Zealand.

Coming from true humble beginnings, busking as jazz students on the streets of Wellington, Drax Project have shut down stages all across the globe, even opening for everyone including Ed Sheeran, Cristina Aguilera, Lorde, Brian McKnight and Camila Cabello. Priding themselves in their live performance, the band has accumulated over 400 million streams and even received their first US Gold plaque for their single “Woke Up Late” featuring Hailee Steinfeld.

With the release of “Crazy,” Drax Project creates the perfect TGIF anthem, created intentionally for you to roll the windows and enjoy the cool breeze of everyday life. The record boasts jazz-infused melodies, rhythmic snares, and undeniable bass paired with the quartet’s electronic-driven vocals.

Speaking on the song, Drax Project states, “We’re so stoked to finally be releasing music again and ‘Crazy’ feels like the best way to kick things back into gear. Being fans of their previous projects, getting to work with Grey (producer) and their team on the track was a buzz, and we feel like what’s come out of it is some of the best music we’ve released.”

“Crazy” holds fans over until the arrival of their forthcoming album due in March. Crazy was produced by Grey (The Middle) and 2 of the songs from the album were Executive Produced by Rogét Chahayed who is up for a Grammy for Producer of the year.

They add, “We all know how hard the last couple of years have been and we just want people who hear ‘Crazy’ to have a reason to dance.”
