If you’re a female based in the Atlanta area, it’s a MUST you check out the newest, hottest luxury salon on the scene called Meshella Rose Boutique. Owned by a boss babe named Brittany ‘BDav’ Davis, Meshella Rose serves as the ultimate hair experience, where opulence and beauty coexist.
The hair extension company and salon prides themselves in providing 100% virgin hair that’s ethically sourced and of the highest quality. Natural and extension services offered include microlinks, tape-ins, sew-ins, wig installs, braids, and much more. This isn’t just your average salon… BDav is here to make an impact in black culture.
In perfect timing for October’s Women’s Small Business Month, Sheen had the pleasure of speaking to BDav about her journey, and what it took to open her own salan.
For those who don’t know, who is BDav? How would you describe yourself?
First and foremost, I would describe myself as an Atlanta native. Born and raised. I’m career driven and ambitious. I’ve built my career through the pandemic and have been doing hair professionally for nearly two years now. Not to mention, I just opened my first salon in the heart of Midtown Atlanta about 7 months ago. The “B” in Bdav stands for business woman and Boss Babe.
Where did your love for beauty and hair originate?
I’ve always been a girly girl, so I feel that my love for beauty came naturally. I fell in love with hair at a very early age. My aunt actually owns a salon, and has been in the beauty business since I was a child. I was able to identify what entrepreneurship was at a very young age, and decided right then that was what I wanted for myself.
What’s the meaning behind the name, Meshella Rose Boutique?
Meshella is actually my mom’s middle name, and I paired it with Rose which translates to “pink” in French. Pink is one of the salon’s brand colors. I wanted to give my mom her roses while she’s still here.
Name some of the celebrities you’ve worked with and how that experience was.
As of now, I’ve worked with a few popular TikTok and YouTubers. I’ve had a couple of TV/radio personalities and actors. I’m looking forward to having my first A-list celebrity client.
How do you plan on continuing to maximize your impact on black luxury hair care culture?
I plan to maximize my impact in several ways, but mainly by getting more involved with the youth. I plan to start a mentoring program non-profit for young girls that are interested in working in the beauty industry.
What’s one thing you want customers to walk away with after visiting your store?
I want my customers to walk away feeling beautiful, fulfilled, and even more confident! It’s more than a hair appointment, it’s an experience… an entire vibe when you come to the Meshella Rose.
When did you first get the idea for Meshella Rose Boutique? What was the reality in launching it?
Meshella Rose stemmed from my mother’s middle name. I wanted something original and luxurious. The goal was to launch the brand with a very polished and prestigious aesthetic. I wanted to serve “black girl luxury” in a way that hasn’t been done before. I paid attention to every detail including customer service , the music selection, the vibe, the ideal staff, and clientele. By far, we have been exceeding expectations.
