‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ Was Worth The 3 Hours!

Wednesday, December 21st

Hey y’all! Happy almost Christmas. Last night I finally went to go see the new Avatar: The Way of Water… we were honestly tripping over the fact it was 3 hours and 12 minutes long. But it was so worth it! I have major ADD/ADHD so I’m super weary when movies are over 2 hours, but this actually went by pretty quick. It was so good the entire time!! I’m honestly happy I went, it touched my soul on many different levels.

For anyone living under a rock, this is the sequel to the original Avatar, which released in 2009! Crazy, a whole 13 years ago. I was at UCSB then, & all I remember is falling asleep. Smh. Another reason I was weary. But what really drove me to watch it is the hype. My brother for example, got tickets on opening night. He hardly goes to movies.I also saw Jessie Reyez tweet about it. It just seemed like the movie you HAD to go see, & we left so satisfied!

IMDB plot: Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the extrasolar moon Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their home.

We hit the 9pm showing at AMC Atlantic 14. It was Wednesday so def a more empty theater, but I def gave an applaud when the movie wrapped. It was that good! My favorite part is that it really showcases the water and how grounding it is. They kept reciting how water has no start or end.. very deep but very powerful. I love the water! It brings me so much peace. Eventually, I think I want to move closer to the water.

There’s so much action in the movie, it feels like you’re literally on this wild rollercoaster ride from the very beginning til the end. Also!! I shed a tear at the end. It was so heartwarming, & the events that transpire touched on themes such as the family bond, coping with loss, etc. Plus, the Avatar’s are hella pretty. Am I the only one who thinks that?

Definitely recommend, & definitely bring snacks!
