The Story Behind ‘Tetris’ Is So Crazy!

March 27, 2023

Saturday, March 25th

Hey y’all. I’ve been playing catch up from the weekend, but Saturday night went to go see the new Tetris movie & loved it!! For those who haven’t heard of it, it’s based on a true story. We hit the 9:10pm showing at Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Los Angeles. I love this theater! Last time I was here was covering the Missing premiere where I interviewed Nia Long and Storm Reid. This is a dine-in theater and they have a fire vegan menu & FIRE popcorn. Got the truffle parmesan.. so bomb.

IMDB plot: The story of how one of the world’s most popular video games found its way to players around the globe. Businessman Henk Rogers and Tetris inventor Alexey Pajitnov join forces in the USSR, risking it all to bring Tetris to the masses.

The movie is 2 hours long but it didn’t feel long at all. It’s honestly brilliant how they were able to capture the real story behind the game into a semi-comical drama. There was definitely lots of humor, but also a lot of real moments that I felt added to the storyline. The main character Henk is played by Taron Egerton, who absolutely slays his role. His mustache was great too. What tripped me out was he really travelled to the Soviet Union & just how bad communism really is in Russia.

Definitely a short review because it’s midnight & I’ve been working ALL day. But highly recommend if you need a movie to watch!!
