Sunday, May 28th
You guys, I’ve had such a shitty weekend. The worst thing about depression is it can creep on you & take over out of nowhere. Obviously, I was triggered by a lot on Friday. A few things just really fucked with my mental health & it put me in a really bad place. I was able to snap out of it by Saturday, but it just sucks feeling alone & misunderstood.
ANYWAYS, Sunday I was so happy & excited to hang out w/ my bros. Of course, I asked them to see The Little Mermaid, which is out now & pretty much the biggest movie the box office has seen all year. That’s wild! If you are anywhere my age (32), you probably grew up to The Little Mermaid cartoon. Man, I barely remember it, but the songs in the new movie definitely brought me back. Plus, Halle Bailey fucking nails this role! The big deal is definitely the fact that she’s black, playing Ariel. Disney has so much representation in their new films, & I fuck with it. Definitely saw some Asians in this movie too lmao.
IMDB plot: A young mermaid makes a deal with a sea witch to trade her beautiful voice for human legs so she can discover the world above water and impress a prince.
We hit the 7:45pm showing at Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Los Angeles. They love this theater, I seriously think AMC is a vibe still. It was completely sold out so we had to sit in the very front row, but you can order food here & they bring it to your seat. The vegan pizza is bomb.com, highly recommend! At first I was scared because the movie is 2 hours & 15 minutes long. Also Daniel was making fun of it being PG. But we all ended up really liking it! It was very cute, wholesome, & just put everyone in a good mood. Plus, Halle did her thang thang one the acting & singing. She’s so talented!

I got to interview Halle once when she was performing at Fonda Theater as one half of Chloe x Halle. Definitely sad because they were getting ready so they said no pix! Le sigh.
