With Hip Hop’s 50th birthday quickly approaching this week, it was only right for Billboard to celebrate in a major way: a concert featuring Metro Boomin, Coi Leray, and Armani White. In partnership with Vibe, the event took place at The Novo in downtown Los Angeles Monday evening.

While the performances were the main event, attendees had no complaints as Lil Wayne and Nas graced the stage with their presence, accepting their awards for being inducted into the 2023 Hip Hop Fall of Fame. Ice Spice also came out to accept the Rookie of the Year award.

Coi Leray graced the stage with her short blue hair, radiating good energy. WIth endless hits to her name, she performed fan favorites “No More Parties” and “TWINNEM,” before getting into her newer stuff. The entire show, she didn’t miss a beat with her dancing and choreography, reminding us of the true superstar she is.

She closed out her set with her standout hit “Players,” with the legendary Busta Rhymes hopping on the remix.

By the time Metro Boomin came on, it turned into a function. The Atlanta native has proven himself as a mainstay in the rap game, recently executive producing the soundtrack to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. HIs extensive catalog of hits include Drake’s “Child’s Play,” Migos’ “Bad and Boujee,” Kanye West’s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” Future’s “Low Life,” 21 Savage’s “Bank Account,” and the list goes on.

But his most recent project, Heroes and Villains, put him on the map as far more than a beatmaker — he’s a certified hitmaker here to take the throne.
