Each year, the city of West Hollywood lights up two times a year: once for Pride, and once for Halloween. They throw a massive festival to celebrate both occasions, taking over entire blocks up and down Santa Monica Boulevard.
What Is Emerald Harvest Haunt? The Artist Tree And Emerald Village Present West Hollywood’s First Cannabis Block Party
This year, dispensary The Artist Tree and marketing organization Emerald Village threw their inaugural Emerald Harvest Haunt, the first-ever cannabis block party in the city of Los Angeles. With six dispensaries and over 30 brands, the highly-anticipated event took place adjacent to the annual West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval — which was recently revived for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
For those in the cannabis industry, the Emerald Harvest Haunt was a huge ordeal given its status as the premiere city-approved public cannabis festival of this scale.
Caroline Fontein, Director of Marketing at The Artist Tree, states, “Halloween 2023 in West Hollywood was history in the making with the city’s first official Cannabis Block Party. We were thrilled to see many people join us and to be able to add a truly unique element to the city’s already legendary annual Halloween celebration with The Artist Tree cannabis cocktail bar. The event was a great success, and we’re looking forward to bringing more innovative experiences to revelers in WeHo for Pride and Halloween in 2024.”
Which Experiences Were Available At Emerald Harvest Haunt?
The turnout ended up being equally incredible, with over 1500 tickets sold. Beyond the multitude of cannabis experiences available, there was also a community costume contest judged by the husband-and-wife team of former NBA star Derek Fisher and television personality Gloria Govan, as well as West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tempore John Erickson. A drag show followed shortly after, with local participants and a live performance by recording artist Vizin.
What Made Emerald Harvest Haunt Special For The Cannabis Community?
Scott Schmidt, Executive Director of Emerald Village West Hollywood, shares, “West Hollywood offers a unique and unrivaled cannabis experience in the world. On Halloween we did something that’s never been done before: Gathering the cannabis community to come and celebrate together safely in the middle of Route 66 next to one of the largest Halloween parties in the world. And we had a great time! Emerald Village West Hollywood looks forward to welcoming guests to our ten dispensaries and four lounges all year and at special events for Pride and Halloween in 2024.”
Emerald Village was sectioned off from the rest of the event, offering food trucks and fun activations. All in all, a fun time was had! We can’t wait to attend next year’s, as it can only get bigger and better from here on out.
