Happy Thursday. Another day, another dollar. Tonight started off with my babygirl Monica inviting me out to her friends’ EP listening party. Unfortunately, Madeintyo’s was at the exact same time, so I wasn’t able to stay too long. BUT, I did stay long enough to find out about this artist named Anders. He’s an upcoming R&B artist and the best part: HE’S ASIAN. My people lmao. Their whole camp is from Toronto. The 6. Which means, PND & The Weeknd vibes. You know that’s my favorite type of R&B. I was super early so I didn’t actually get to meet the artist, but shout out to his manager Will for having the DJ play me a joint. I love getting put on. The EP is titled 669 and the event was held at Grey Matter, a barber shop right there on La Brea in West Hollywood. It was real dope. They had the room dimmed with purple lights.
SKRT SKRT. Had to come out to see all my favorite peoples tonight. I mob 15 minutes down Beverly to The Peppermint Club, one of the best spots to hold a private event, especially in music. This spot sets the vibe no matter who’s performing. Tonight was Madeintyo‘s True’s World listening party. His EP dropped literally today, so to hold the listening in Los Angeles with all his close friends and family was only right.
I think it’s absolutely adorable that TYO decided to name his EP after his son. He said True was actually in the back. Shout out to my favorite human beings catching the photo booth on the way in. Literally saw so many post this before I even pulled up. Having it at the very front was genius. Excellent marketing. Huge thanks to Aishah, Ashlee, and Jeremy for putting this whole thing together. They killed it.

Madeintyo is no stranger to the stage. Opening for Big Sean on the I Decided Tour is huge. Before he played us the EP in full, he genuinely thanked everyone who came out and everyone who’s helped him on creating this project. The first record is called “True’s World,” which is produced by FKi 1st. I saw him by the bar and was v excited. He’s so dope (also Post Malone’s DJ). Also in attendance: Marty Grimes, SuperDuperBrick, and KYLE, who was going HAM to TYO’s music. It was so cute. I had to congratulate him on landing a performance at the MTV VMA’s this Sunday.
“Depends” is track number 2 of 6, and TYO was was really amped to play it for us. I love his flow and adlibs. He has his own signature sound. But what we were all waiting for (well, me), “CASHING OUT.” This is his latest single and you can’t not gig to it. It’s catchy af. Find me in the front row, always. Cause I’m extra.

“Cashing Out” was the one record from the EP that he really performed in full. “Too Quick” was next, and the lyrics had me relating so hard lmao. “I get bored too quick.” Real life. ADD. Hi.

Love that he played us his bangers afterward. “Skateboard P” had everybody in the joint lit. The minute I heard that record, I was like boom. That’s a hit. And then he played my other fav: “I Want.” For the day ones.
